Our story
Creating opportunities beyond sight loss
We believe sight loss should never be a barrier to sport, friendship or opportunity. That's why we created a community where blind and partially sighted people can get active, build confidence and belong.
What began as a shared vision has grown into an inclusive club offering football, cricket and social activities across Greater Manchester. Together with our volunteers, families and supporters, we're creating more opportunities for people with sight loss to thrive.

When we compete, we fly as the Falcons. The gold falcon is worn with pride by our cricketers, goalballers and footballers — a symbol of everything this community has built together.

Our Journey

2019
Where it all began
Our journey started when several of our members joined existing visually impaired sports teams. Through those experiences, we discovered how sport can transform lives by building confidence, improving wellbeing and creating lasting friendships.

2023
Building something together
Inspired to make sport more accessible closer to home, we came together to create our own club. Our goal was simple: remove barriers and give blind and partially sighted people across Greater Manchester the opportunity to play, belong and thrive.

2024
Champions in our first season
The Greater Manchester Falcons made their debut in the Blind Cricket England and Wales Northern Regional Division. Losing just one match all season, we were crowned league champions in our very first year!

Our cricket journey continues
Our community continued to grow with the launch of our visually impaired cricket team. Based at Astley Bridge Cricket Club, players train and compete with the support of qualified coaches, trained guides and dedicated volunteers.
